Purposes of the processing
In accordance with the section 13 D.lgs. n.196/2003 the provided data will be processed in the necessary measure and for the purposes connected to the enrollment and the attendance to the training course.
Methods of processing and subjects involved
The processing will be done both manually and by computer. The data may be communicated to institutions or public and private authorities if strictly necessary for the scope of the teaching activities of the course.
Nature of the provision of the data and consequences of a potential refusal
The provision of the data is mandatory, and the potential refusal of the provision involves the impossibility of the enrollment in the course and the management of the connected procedural activities, as well as the teaching activities.
Holder and supervisor of the processing
The holder of the processing of the data is the AIQUA – Associazione Italiana per il Quaternario represented in person by its pro tempore legal representative, the president Maria Rita Palombo.
Section 7 d.lgs. 196/2003 - Right to Access Personal Data and Other Rights
- The data subject shall have the right to be informed
a) of the source of the personal data;
b) of the purposes and methods of the processing;
c) of the logic applied to the processing, if the latter is carried out with the help of electronic means;

Once you have been notified the acceptance to the AIQUA fall school you need to pay the fee by September 2, 2017 to confirm your attendance.

Cancellation by the participant is possible until the 10th of September 2017

By Car
Sulmona is accessible via the A25 Rome to Pescara motorway- exit at Sulmona / Pratola Peligna. Rome is 2 hours away and Pescara just 50 minutes.
It is also reached via the SS17 which lead to Naples in one direction and L’Aquila in the other. Naples 2hrs 20 mins and L’Aquila 1 hr 15 mins.
By Air
Sulmona’s nearest airport is at Pescara with flights to London’s Stansted, Barcelona, Oslo, Paris, Frankfurt, Brussels and Dusseldorf plus internal flights to Milan and Cagliari. Pescara airport is 50 minutes from Sulmona and you can connect either by bus or by train.
From Rome airports, you can take a Prontobus that will bring you to Sulmona in about 2hr.
By Train
Sulmona is an important communication node in the centre of Abruzzo and is easily accessed from Rome, Pescara and L’Aquila. Note that the railway station is a little way out of town and uphill towards the centro storico.
By Coach
Coaches are provided throughout Abruzzo by ARPA.
Connecting coaches to Rome for example are also available from PSTAR
How to reach the country house hotel "Villa Giovina"

The Hotel is located about 8 km N of the Sulmona centre. If you arrive with public transportation we could organize a pick-up service (at no costs). Please let us know the place and time of arrival at Sulmona. We can organize the same service the day of the departure, leaving you at the train or bus station.
Techniques and case studies
The school will be organised into theoretical lessons, practical exercises and seminars held by Italian scientists. The expertizes will cover various fields of the broad spectrum of the geology, stratigraphy and paleoclimatology of continental Quaternary. In fact, since a long time the Apennine quaternary basins have been recognized as fundamental archives for the study of Quaternary tectonics. Recent high resolution stratigraphic and temporal surveys have further emphasized the importance of these sequences in the study of the evolution of the local paleo-environmental systems but also in the history of climate on the regional and extra-regional scale during the Quaternary.
In addition to providing basic notions about different methods and topics of investigation (eg. Quaternary tectonics, tephrostratigraphy, geochronology, isotopic stratigraphy, paleoecology, palynology, palaeontology, magneto stratigraphy), the lessons will cover study cases of sedimentary succession that will be further illustrated and examined during the field trips.
These will take place in the basin of Sulmona, which offers many examples of well-studied and accessible stratigraphic sections that cover different time intervals during the Pleistocene.
